Jason Hill of Rockwall won the Bank One Open of the Lone Star Golf Tour which was held at Lake Charles, LA.

J.C. DeLeon of Tulsa and Nicholas Loar of Rockwall won the Justin Leonard AJGA Team Championship at Northwood Club. Randi Meadows and Kim Rowton of San Antonio won the Girls competition.

Shawn Humphries, formerly the director of instruction at Carmel Valley Ranch, is the new director of golf instruction at the Four Seasons Resort and Club.

Jack Barger of Connally GC defeated Tim Hobby, the golf coach at Baylor, in a playoff to win the NTPGA UST Wilson Classic at Temple.

The University of Houston men's golf team finished the season ranked as the #5 ranked team in the Mastercard Collegiate Rankings. TCU was 6th. The Frogs J.J. Henry was ranked third.

Bob Elliott and Lindsay Brown of Northwood CC won the Northern Texas PGA Spalding Pro-Scratch which was held at Texas Star in Euless.

The PGA Tour Championship will be returning to Texas in 1999. The tournament will be at the Champions Golf Club in Houston (Oct 25-31).
